We have never much warmed to flower prints. They seem too easy somehow. Paint a flower (and there are plenty of them around) and you're pretty much done. But we came at this pattern from a different angle. It started with a field of Chrysanthemums, then evolved slowly through an abstract approach to detail, and ended finally with two colours, grey and brilliant orange. Flowers might not leap off the page for us, but colour will do it every time.
